Berlin is a fast paced, trendy international city with a lot of things to see and do. I have stayed in Berlin off and and on for the past year or so and have some things I really recommend you must do:
me in my favorite district—schöneberg
the one, the only: A beautiful döner
Eat a Döner Kebab
Turkish street food meets Berlin— and it is utterly delicious. If you come to Berlin and do not try out a Döner, did you even come to Berlin? The Döner Kebab was created in Berlin, Germany in 1971 and has been a hit ever since. The perfect mid-day on the go meal, or especially after a stumbling drunken night, the kebab is a perfect choice!
Visit Eastside Gallery
The Eastside gallery never fails to AMAZE me! This is the longest standing piece of the Berlin wall, and it amazes me to see how they have managed to turn it into a wall about peace, harmony, and love. The wall is extremely detailed and long, so get prepared to take your time checking it out.
The wonderful eastside gallery!
Take a street art tour
Berlin is a city full of passionate street artists. The first time I saw Berlin street art, it did not have that much meaning to me. But then, I took a street art tour and learned the history and meaning behind the people with the paint can. Since then— the way I look at graffiti has changed. Taking a street art tour has definitely taught me new perspectives and opened my mind to how meaningful this type of art is.
Hit up a Techno club
Berlin is known for it’s CRAZY nightlife culture. The Berlin techno clubs areeee crazy popular, and also notoriously selective. My recommendation: look up the club before and ABIDE BY ALL MEANS TO THE DRESS CODE! Also be prepared to wait in line for HOURS to get in. Is it worth it? To me for the one time experience, DEFINITELY!
one of the many beautiful parks berlin has to offer
Enjoy a beer in the park
This is especially to my American friends: DRINKING IN GERMANY IS LEGAL!!!! It’s pretty crazy to me, but in the best way possible. I love grabbing a beer and chilling in a park, it is a very typical Berliner thing to do. I even went on a first date like this. Enjoy the freedom with a cold one in a park. Berlin has beautiful massive parks that you needa take lots of advantage of while you are here!
